Do you love to decorate with carrots? You wouldn’t happen to have any of those old c9 bulbs, would you? If so, pull the orange ones out because I’m showing you how to make the cutest carrots ever! Let’s make some vintage c9 bulb carrots!
Materials and tools needed:
- Greenery of your choice
- Green jute twine
- Vintage orange C9 light bulbs
- Hot glue gun and glue
- Scissors
Step one: Find some C9 bulbs (Hint, they are on Etsy!)
I found some vintage C9 bulbs recently at a yard sale. I’m a sucker for carrot crafts, so the orange ones were perfect for this project! You can find them on >>Etsy<<, too!
Step two: Add greenery to your C9 bulbs
We need some greenery for the tops of our carrots! I love this boxwood greenery from Walmart, but they no longer carry it. Boohoo! Remove each twig from the stems.
Add a line of hot glue onto the metal threads of the bulb.
Then you’ll add a twig right where you added the glue and hold until set. It’s ok if it’s messy because you’re gonna cover that up anyway.
I added three twigs just because I didn’t have much greenery left, but you can add more if you want.
Add that third twig to your metal threads.
Step three: Add green jute twine to your C9 bulb threads
Now you’re gonna grab your green jute twine*! You can get some at the Dollar Tree. (*Dollar Tree does compensate me for this endorsement)
I just love this green color! It’s not exactly the same color as the greenery, but I still like the two colors together. We never go for perfect here anyway.
Add some hot glue around the threads and start gluing your jute twine onto the threads.
After you glue that initial row down, just start wrapping the jute around until it’s covered completely.
Use a light dab of glue when you have it all wrapped then cut the twine.
Step four: Add one more greenery piece to your C9 bulb
Since you can still see the top of the metal thread, let’s use a fourth twig on the top.
Cut that bottom part off so you have a flat-ish surface to glue it onto the top of your threads.
Place a dab of hot glue onto the top of your metal threads and then place down your flat twig and hold until secure.
Step five: Decorate with your adorable new carrots!
Seriously so simple! Now they looks fuller. And they are ready for decorating!
