Not the healthiest sure, but how often do we indulge in cake? So save this for a cheat day, but when it’s someone’s birthday around our family, we eat cake! Are you the same? Check out this fun recipe!
Ingredients :
- 1-2 boxes triple chocolate cake mix
- 2 chocolate frosting cans
- 1 package of oreo cookies
- 1 package of chocolate chip cookies
- 1 package of instant chocolate pudding mix
- Coconut oil (or vegetable oil), I just prefer coconut
- 1 package of semi sweet chocolate chips
- Water
- Eggs
- Milk
- Butter or non stick spray

Instructions :
Prepare your cake mix according to the directions on the package. Usually you need water, eggs, and oil. I like to use coconut oil, but it typically calls for vegetable oil. Use what you normally would use though. Before adding the wet stuff though, I added a whole bag of semi sweet chocolate chips to the dry mix.

After your cakes are baked, cool them completely. We actually used two boxed mixes, because we wanted a larger cake. We could have made another tier, but we only had two cake pans. Lol What we ended up doing with the extra prepared mix was made 24 mini cupcakes!

While the cakes were cooling, we prepared our frosting by mixing it really good inside the can to warm it up a little. You could also warm it up in a microwave for a few seconds, too. We added a bit of frosting onto our cake stand to hold that first cake in place.

Once we added that first tier of our chocolate cake, we added a layer of Oreo cookies. Yum!

No Oreo cookies were harmed in this process. Well, maybe one or two. Haha!

We called this triple chocolate cake because of what the boxed cake says, but if you’re counting, we’re already at three and here comes more chocolate!! Chocolate pudding that is! Has your sweet tooth activated yet? Lol

Yep, that’s right, our next layer is chocolate pudding prepared the way it shows on the box, which is just 2 cups of milk. We just smoothed that all over the top of our Oreo cookie layer! Yum! Yum! Yum! I love chocolate pudding! I have to opt for the sugar free versions now though.

Here Comes More Cake!! Layer #2!

Now your icing should be ready for spreading.

OMG! Would y’all look at all that chocolatey goodness!

The key to unprofessional frosting is to really pile it on thick and then it won’t drag your cake underneath. Ha! At least that works for us! We ain’t professionals though. We’re just parents. Lol

YUMMY!

But we’re still not done! We have one more little detail to add!

We’ve added one last cookie to our cake! Chocolate chip cookies!! We stuck them right onto the side of the cake at the bottom.

Then we topped it with a single cookie and crushed up cookie crumbs! So decadent, right?!

We made this cake for our youngest, who turned seven, y’all. I might have cried a little that day. Sigh… I’m not ready for my baby to grow up. This cake put a big smile on his face and he had such a good day, that took all my sadness away. Not to mention this cake was Ah-mazing! So sweet, and so delicious!!
Let’s cut into this cake!
