We are spending the week at the beach, so what better time to work on some Christmas decor for my beach themed bathroom back home! We walked to the pier one evening and picked up some shells on the way. We also found some sea sticks and grabbed a bit of sand! I decided to make a Christmas tree using the elements that we found, so we visited the local dollar store for crafting supplies. I knew I was going to be doing some crafting, so I already had my glue gun, glue sticks, and scissors.
This is what you will need for this project.
- 8×10 canvas (mine came from Dollar Tree)
- shells, sand, and sea sticks
- aqua and brown flat-back glass gems
- white glue
- iridescent glitter
- Christmas ribbon in various prints and textures from the Dollar Tree
- Glue gun and glue
First, you will place your tree trunk. I used sticks that we found in the ocean. I broke them and lined up about five of them to make a thick trunk for my tree. I placed two large shells off to either side of my trunk to start my tree. I used my glue gun to adhere everything.

I just kept adding shells until I had the shape of a Christmas tree.

After I had all of the shells glued on, I started adding the brown flat-back gems to the bottom, gluing each one. Next, were the blue gems. I did this until the entire canvas was covered.

After all the gems are glued down, squeeze your white glue into all of the openings of your gems and shells. Then you are going to cover the whole thing in a mix of beach sand and iridescent glitter. Rub it around into the openings and then shake off the excess. Let this dry overnight.

While that is drying, make your star bow. I used ribbon from the Dollar Tree; a couple of gold and cream Christmas print, a gold glitter, a white glitter, and a fabric lace ribbon. I cut 6″ pieces from them all. I criss-crossed them in a star formation, and added the sea stick to the center. I tied everything together using some leftover raffia, but you could use a piece of ribbon or string.

Glue on your bow and you’re done! This is perfect for your beach house decor! I have a bathroom that I’ve got decorated in a beach theme and this will be going in there this Christmas! I might add a twine rope border once we get back home, but I love it just how it is now! What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
