Are you a fan of the Fall Season? I love, love, love pumpkin season, which is how I lovingly refer to it as! Have you seen these mini pallet boards that they have at the Dollar Tree? They make super cute pumpkins! Let me show you how to transform a piece of wood into a fun and unique pumpkin using this Miniature Wood Pallet Pumpkin Diy tutorial! Make sure to check out our other Fall Diys while you’re here!
Supplies needed for this Miniature Wood Pallet Pumpkin Diy:
- Mini wood pallet boards
- Half Wooden Beads
- Orange paint
- Antique Wax
- Sticks, bark, or other item for a stem
- Raffia
- Greenery of choice
- Twine for curling and/or wired jute
- Easel or Jenga block for displaying
- Hot glue, wood glue, or super glue
1. Add wood beads to the board’s border
Before I painted the board, I added these half wood beads around the border. This pumpkin was inspired by a fellow crafter, Roost and Restore Home. She used a different piece of wood, but she added the beads which I thought was a fun detail to this craft! Hot glue was what I used to attach them but you can use wood glue or even super glue. Just make sure to line them up prior to gluing so you get them straight.

2. Paint the now beaded board
Now that your beads are attached, you can paint the entire thing with the orange paint. If you wanted a cream pumpkin or a teal pumpkin, use those colors instead! Make it your own!

Something that I did to make the chalk paint apply a bit smoother was to add a bit of water to it. You can use acrylic paint as well. This is just what I had on hand. I painted the front and back and even the edges.

3. Add antique wax
Next, add a bit of antique wax to distress the orange color. This makes for a really nice effect. I applied it with wet wipes. You could use a brush, but you still need to be able to wipe off any excess.

3. Add a stem to your painted, beaded board
These stems came from Hobby Lobby in a package at Christmas time, but I bet you could find them year round in the Wood Pile section. If all else fails, go grab a stick from your yard! I know you can see the glue here, but the extras will hide that.
What else can I use as a stem for a DIY pumpkin?
- Tree bark
- Wine bottle corks
- Wooden thread spools
- Thick nautical rope

4. Add greenery, jute tendrils, and a raffia bow
I just really loved Roost and Restore’s style for this one, so I followed her lead on it as well. A raffia bow was added to the stem and then I added greenery to it, also.

I poked the greenery behind the raffia so you can just see it peeking out there.

The last thing I added was some curly jute tendrils and then it was finished! I made a larger one as well using the top of a wooden crate, so I have a coordinating pair! How stinking adorable are these?!
