Looking for easy heart diys for Valentine’s day? Here is a cute door hanger idea! Keep reading to learn how to make a felt rose heart wreath for your decor!
Supplies needed for this project :
- >>Felt roses<<
- Embroidery hoop
- Artificial rose leaves
- Scrabble letters
- Raffia
- Decorative mesh tubing
- Greenery wire
- Hot glue, scissors
Embroidery hoops are a fantastic element to use when making a wall hanging or door decoration! They are not just for embroidery or cross stitch anymore!

I used my embroidery hoop to measure how much material I was going to need for this project. Burlap is the material I chose.

Instead of going ahead and inserting the burlap into the hoop, I decided to make my heart first. I did this because when I do add the burlap to the hoop, I can make sure the heart is straight.

Adding one felt rose at a time, I started to build my heart.

I did all of this before I glued them on to try my best at getting a good heart shape.

You can see the progression of the heart below.

At this point, I still wasn’t happy with this heart shape, but I continued on with the next step of adding leaves. If you don’t have roses in your craft stash, use any leaves.

Go ahead and turn your embroidery hoop over and cut off your excess burlap.

Added several leaves around the heart to mimic a rose’s leaves. But I just still was not happy with how my heart looked. It felt too skinny, although you might like it this way. Make it your own of course!

I started by adding one more heart to that top center piece… then I got lost in making roses and forgot to take pictures of each one after I added it. Haha!

This is what I ended up with! I think I ended up adding double the amount of roses that I had on the original heart! Lol I just kept on adding! And even though it came all the way down to the bottom of the burlap, I still liked this “fatter” heart better.

I decided I needed something at the top, since the heart reached the bottom, so I added these cute scrabble letters to say I <3 U! Isn’t that cute?!

I also decided on this green floral wire to make a hanger with. This came from Hobby Lobby.

You can see below how I added the wire.

Last thing I added was this simple bow to hide the wire. It’s a bow made out of the mesh tubing from the Dollar Tree. I topped that on a raffia bow and more rose greenery. That finished it off perfectly I thought!

Look how pretty?!
