Do you need some fun decor to go on your lemon decorated tiered tray or dough bowl? Let me show you how to make a lemon farmhouse kitchen wood bead garland.

Supplies needed for this diy:

Step one: Paint your lemons

Have you seen these wooden stickers from the Dollar Tree? They are perfect for this project!

You either need a very thin paint brush and yellow and white paint, or you can use paint brush markers, like these from the Dollar Tree!

It says they are for glass and ceramic, but they work pretty darn well on wood, also!

I started with the yellow.

Then I added the white around the yellow parts.

You can barely see it here, but next I used the yellow again to do the outside edge. You can really see the white afterwards.

Step two: Paint your beads

The next step is to paint the beads. I like to use a skewer that is stuck inside some styrofoam. Add some beads to the skewer and then paint!

Step three: Work on your cutting board

While those are drying, let’s move on to the next part of our garland, these miniature wooden cutting boards.

I thought about just leaving them plain, but I decided to decoupage them with a Buffalo plaid napkin.

But first, I painted them white. Napkins always look better on a white background.

This is the napkin that I used. It’s from Hobby Lobby. I only wanted the check part, so I cut around the sunflowers. I’ll save those for another craft.

After you get the napkin cut, add some mod podge to the cutting boards.

Then you’ll lay your napkin over top before it dries. You can wait until it dries and use an iron to apply if you want. It worked pretty good without that step with this one, though.

The reason for this is because we’re gonna use the burn method.

Cut around the cutting board as much as you can.

Then you will light the napkin and let it burn the excess napkin off. Warning: Make sure to have water ready in case you need to put out the flame. Only do this method if you feel comfortable doing so.

This is a great way to get rid of the napkin edges without having to do as much sanding.

Sand anything that is leftover after burning the napkin.

Check it out! Perfect! Well, except for the handle opening. I used a pencil to create the hole in the napkin.

The cutting boards are ready! Seal them now if you like.

Step four: Add your lemons to your boards

Now you will add your wooden lemons. I used wood glue to attach them.

Step five: Add your wood beads to your garland

Now, let’s get back to the beads. Add jute to the cutting board using a lark’s head knot.

Then start stringing your beads, alternating between colors.

Step six: Add a tassel

Add a tassel to the other end and an awareness bow and your lemon farmhouse kitchen wood bead garland is ready to decorate with!
