Are you turned off of crafting with recycled containers because of that pesky label that seems impossible to remove? Let me show you how to remove food jar labels without using chemicals. Super easy process!
Step one: Soak off the paper label
If the paper label is still attached to the jar, place the jar under warm running water or you can also soak the jar in water.

Rub the label until it slides off. Make sure the label does not go down your drain and discard it.

Step two: Add your essential oil
After the paper label is removed, dry your jar and start to add a few drops of lemon or orange essential oil to any gummy residue that’s left on the jar.

Rub the oil into the gummy residue.

You can use a scraper or butter knife to scrape up and down your jar to break up that residue.

You will be able to feel the residue being broken up as you continue to rub it and scrape it.

Once you feel like all the goo is broken up, use a dry paper towel and wipe off the jar.

Step three: Use a dry paper towel to wipe off the goo.

Clean as a whistle!
But just in case, if there are additional areas of label leftover, add another drop of the lemon essential oil and rub. Wipe with the paper towel afterwards again.

Look at the yucky gummy mess on the napkin.

Step four: Wash the oils off the jar
If you soaked your paper label off, and you still have that water in the sink, just add your jar back to that water and add some dish soap to your jar.

Use a cloth or a scrub pad to thoroughly clean your jar.

After your jars are dried, they are ready to reuse!
