If you’re looking for some gingerbread themed Christmas ornament ideas, I’ve got one for you! It’s a Gingerbread Snowflake Ornament that you could use on a tree or in any part of your Christmas home decor! Keep scrolling for full instructions. Supplies needed for this Gingerbread Snowflake Ornament project :
- Cardboard or wooden square 4×4″ – <<<Mine came from Amazon!
- Tan felt sheets
- Wooden snowflake cutouts from the Dollar Tree
- Glitter
- White paint
- Hot glue
- Glitter ribbon
Step One :
Paint your wooden snowflake using white paint. Acrylic paint is fine for this. I’m using a sponge for this process for several reasons. The paint can be applied quickly and easily with no worry of extra paint seeping through the holes, just dab it on. A sponge brush is also a cost effective way to save your paint brushes if you don’t have to use them.
Step Two :
While your paint is still wet on your snowflake, sprinkle on some iridescent or white glitter. Set that aside to dry.
Step Three :
Once your snowflake is painted and glittered, use that same paint to dab the outside edges of your wooden or cardboard square. While the paint is still wet, add glitter to the edges as well. Set that aside to dry.
Step Four :
Cut a square shape out of your tan felt, slightly smaller than your wooden square. My wooden square was 4×4″, so my felt square was 3.75 x 3.75″. Once cut, and once the edges of your wooden square are dry, add the felt square to the wooden square using hot glue.
Step Five :
Next, add your snowflake to your felt square using hot glue. Sprinkle some glitter onto the felt and the felt will hold onto the perfect amount of glitter for a subtle sparkle.
Step Six :
The last thing to do is make a hanger using glitter ribbon. You can do this by creating an awareness shape with the ribbon and attaching it to the back of the wooden square using hot glue. Once that is done, your gingerbread snowflake ornament is ready to hang!
