Have you ever crafted with these cute wooden cutouts from Walmart? They had this mason jar shaped one that I just couldn’t leave the store without. I decided to use it for a fall craft and found a simple idea that still looks really nice! Let me show you how I made this Fall Mason Jar Shelf Sitter and you’ll see how easy it is! Make sure to check out our other Fall Diys while you’re here!
Supplies needed for this Diy:
- Mason jar cutout from Walmart
- Fall window clings from Dollar General
- Fall wooden words from Dollar Tree
- Cream and orange paint
- Mod podge
- Wood or hot glue
- Antique wax
1. Paint the Mason Jar Cutout
The first thing that I did was paint the mason jar cutout with the cream paint. You can barely see in the picture that I’m painting it a color at all, but I promise it is. Lol

2. Paint the Wooden Words
These wooden words and phrases came from the Dollar Tree and they were perfect for this project, because I wanted it to be simple. The one that I chose said Hello Fall.

I used an orange paint called Pumpkin.

3. Paint the Trim of the Mason Jar
After I painted the words, I used the same brush and paint to add that same color to the raised trim around the mason jar cutout.

4. Distress the Orange
After the orange paint was used, I added a bit of antique wax to darken the orange just a tad. I was trying to match what I’m about to show you next.

5. Add a Fall Window Cling
Once everything was dry, I chose a pumpkin window cling from this sheet from the Dollar General. Using a brush, paint some mod podge onto the back of the window cling, then apply it to the piece of wood at the bottom. Smooth out any bubbles with your fingers.

6. Apply the Hello Fall
Last thing to do is to add the wooden Hello Fall to the top of the wooden jar. I used some mod podge for this step as well, only because I forgot my glue. You can use wood glue, regular white glue or hot glue for this step.

And that’s it! Your Fall Mason Jar Shelf Sitter is complete! You could always add more embellishments if you wanted to. I chose to leave it simple. You could add this to a wreath or place it in a dough bowl arrangement. I would simply add it to my fireplace mantel using an easel.
