Add a little vintage charm to your Christmas decor with this adorable DIY snowman made from a repurposed ceiling fan light globe! This fun and festive project is part of my Christmas in July series and makes the perfect shelf sitter or handmade gift idea. In this post, I’ll show you exactly how I turned a glass light shade, a straw doll hat, and a few craft supplies into this cozy little snowman friend. - Black paint
- Small paintbrushes
- Pink paint or blush (for cheeks – optional)
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Mini straw hat or DIY Ribbon Spool Hat

How to Make This Repurposed Globe Snowman
1. Paint and Seal the Globe
Start by painting your glass light globe with white chalk paint. It may take 2–3 coats depending on coverage. Let it dry fully between coats. Once your paint is dry, seal the entire surface with Mod Podge to give it a soft matte finish and added durability.

2. Create the Carrot Nose
Use air dry clay to sculpt a small carrot-shaped nose. Let it dry fully (this usually takes 24 hours, but follow your brand’s directions). Once dry, paint it orange and set it aside.

3. Add Ribbons
Hot glue the ribbon around the body of the globe. Then hot glue the holiday themed bowtie to the center of that ribbon. Add another piece ribbon around the straw hat brim for a festive touch. I added a small rustic wooden snowflake button to the center of my bowtie.

4. Add Eyes, Nose, and Buttons
Attach two black buttons or flat back jewels for the eyes and two black buttons below the ribbon to mimic a snowman’s front. After your clay nose is dry, glue it on as well.

5. Paint the Mouth
Dip a clean paint brush end into black paint and use it to stamp a dotted smile beneath the nose area. You could also use the eraser of a pencil.

6. Finish with the Hat & Tag
Glue the straw hat to the top of the globe. Then, print the free tag from my blog and tie it to the hat ribbon with twine or string.
