Let’s Make It!
1. Paint the Base
I started by painting the large craft sticks with Plaster chalk paint from Waverly.

After they dried, I added a strip of red glitter ribbon near the top of each stick using hot glue to give them that classic ski look.

2. Prepare the Skis
Next, I cut the skewers down to the length of the craft sticks, keeping the pointed ends intact. I painted them using Silver Lining chalk paint and set them aside to dry.

3. Create the Ski Poles
Using a sharp X-Acto knife, I carefully sliced the wine cork into ¼ inch rounds. These little cork slices got a coat of Waverly’s Ink chalk paint. Once dry, I poked a small hole in the center of each slice and slid them onto the pointed ends of the skewers.

4. Assemble the Ornament
I attached the skewers to the craft sticks by adding hot glue to the cork slice and to the bottom end of the stick.

For the second ski, I slid the craft stick underneath the first ski’s skewer (between the stick and the skewer) before gluing down the end—this helped form a secure and layered X-shape.

I then added a little hot glue behind the top craft stick to hold the skis firmly together in that classic crisscross.
5. Add the Festive Flair
Now for the fun part—embellishing! I glued on some snowy faux greenery, frosted berries, and a tiny pine cone right where the skis cross.

To finish it all off, I tied and glued on a beautiful green velvet awareness bow. Click >>HERE<< for the step-by-step awareness bow tutorial.

Display Your Ornament
To hang this sweet little creation, I hot glued a miniature clothespin to the back so it clips easily onto a branch—no hook needed! This project adds a cozy, handmade touch to any Christmas tree and makes for a charming keepsake or gift.
