Ingredients for this recipe :
- One pound of breakfast sausage
- Four ounces of cream cheese
- One can of crescent rolls
- Seasonings : I used salt, garlic and Italian seasoning
1. Brown 1 pound of breakfast sausage
Preheat your oven to 375. Cook the sausage just like you would brown any other ground meat. There will be some grease in this recipe from the sausage, but I’ll show you how I get rid of that.
2. Rinse the Cooked Sausage
This might seem odd, but it is a great way to cut down on the fat in recipes. I add the contents of my pan into a colander. Turn on your tap water and rinse the meat until the grease is gone. Make sure to use some dish soap in your drain after this process to break up that grease that is going down your drain. Once it’s drained, add the sausage back to your pan.
3. Add Cream Cheese
You can use the whole block of cream cheese if you are a cream cheese lover. I wanted to still be able to taste the sausage, so I only added half of a package of the cream cheese, which is 4 ounces. Mix it into the browned sausage after you add it back to your pan.
4. Prep the Crescent Roll Dough
While the sausage and cream cheese are mingling on low, roll out the crescent roll dough onto your pan. I used a pizza cutter to separate them. You can also add any seasonings now to your sausage cream cheese mixture. I sprinkled on some salt, garlic powder and Italian seasoning. Just add it to your taste.
5. Add the Mixture to the Crescent Roll Dough
Spoon the mixture evenly over the eight crescent rolls. You could also use two cans of crescent rolls and divide the mixture even more. We wanted some fully stuffed crescent rolls, so I just used the one can.
6. Rollup the Crescent Rolls
Rollup the stuffed crescent rolls and bake for about 10-12 minutes, until they are golden brown.
