Do you get a real tree at Christmas? If you do, is it cut or do you get a ball & burlap tree? What that means is the tree still has it’s root ball attached and they wrap it in burlap to protect the roots and to contain the dirt as well as help the root ball retain moisture. In the spirit of real trees at Christmas, we put a new spin on some bottle brush trees by turning one into a ball and burlap Christmas tree diy with this quick and easy Christmas DIY!
Step 1 :
Use a paper plate or other large round object to draw a circle from your burlap. Of course you can also just free hand a circle.

Step 2 :
Now cut out your circle from your burlap. The size circle that you need will depend on the size tree that you’re using.

My tree is from the Dollar General and it’s about 12 inches tall. The base was maybe 3 inches wide and my circle was around 9 inches in diameter.

Step 3 :
Next, add some pillow stuffing to the bottom of the tree to create the “root ball”.

Sit that down on top of your burlap circle and center it.

Step 4 :
Start gathering your burlap up around your “root ball” until you have it secured completely around the trunk with your hand.

Step 5 :
Last, use your jute twine to tie the burlap to the trunk.

And that’s it! Your ball and burlap Christmas tree diy is complete! So simple, yet so cute! Toss it into the back of a farm truck like the one pictured to add to your home decor!

How sweet is this farm truck though?! The truck came from Walmart, but I added embellishments to it, including the tree!

I hope you enjoyed this quick and easy diy and it inspires you to make something similar for your home! Leave us a comment to let us know if you liked this DIY! Join our email family, too!
